POLLUTION CAUSES 20% OF DEATHS

As many as one in five deaths recorded in India last year can be attributed to air pollution, The Lancet says. The number of such deaths rose to 1.7 million in 2019. Lung disease is the most common cause of death but fatal heart disease, stroke and diabetes numbers are also rising. This “hidden pandemic” is killing more than 10 times the numbers dying of COVID-19.
