Father of Confederation William Alexander Henry was born in Halifax, N.S. Henry entered politics in 1840 as the Liberal member for Antigonish, where he was raised,
in Nova Scotia’s House of Assembly. In 1864, Henry served as attorney general for Nova Scotia and was a delegate to all three Confederation conferences. He later became mayor of Halifax and one of the first judges appointed to the Supreme Court of
Canada.
