Growing government

Re: Lumps of coal from Santa J. Rex Murphy, Dec. 15

If it wasn't already obvious to most Canadians, then the COVID-19 pandemic should be making it painfully clear that our political elites are no more capable or smarter, and in too many cases less so, than the people they rule over. It is for this very reason that Canadians should be deeply skeptical of any government that believes that layering on even more government to an already over-governed country is a good thing. Most Canadians are perfectly capable of making sensible and rational decisions based on their own particular needs. But this is not how the ideologues in the federal Liberal party see it, and they are imposing their ideological will on us via the carbon tax. This tax is all about social engineering and growing government. It will do nothing to affect the global climate and everything to increase our cost of living. Anyone who believes that they will be getting back more than they put in is living in the Liberal's fantasy universe where two plus two equals five.
