Dwarf giraffes found
Being tall is the giraffe's competitive advantage, giving it the pick of leaves at the tops of trees, so scientists were stunned to find two giraffe dwarfs 4,000 km apart in Africa. Most giraffes grow to between 4.5 and 6 metres, but scientists have now seen a 2.6-metre giraffe in Namibia and a 2.8-metre giraffe in Uganda. The giraffes had the standard long necks but short, muscular
legs, the result of skeletal dysplasia, rare in wild animals.
