PRO-TRUMP RALLY ORGANIZER CHARGED UNDER HEALTH ACT

-

Police say the organizer of a pro-Trump rally in Red Deer, Alta., has been charged for ignoring public health rules. RCMP were called around noon on Wednesday to a protest near City Hall Park. About 30 people had gathered to demonstrate against the election results in the United States, with some not wearing masks and carrying signs and flags in support of President Donald Trump that read “Volunteers for American Liberty” and “Canadians for Trump. Drain the Swamp.” Officers considered the crowd in contravention of public health guidelines, which prohibit outdoor gatherings. The organizer was charged under the Public Health Act and is to appear in court April 28. Police say after they responded to the event most protesters left the rally.
