Tim Horton, NHL player and entreprene­ur, was born at Cochrane, Ont. Born Miles Gilbert Horton, he became one of the best defensemen of his time, playing with the Toronto Maple Leafs and three other NHL teams. Horton pursued several business ventures including a car dealership, hamburger restaurant, and, of course, a coffee shop, that sold

coffee for a quarter and Tim’s personal creations: the apple fritter and the Dutchie.
