Saudi Arabia's new NEOM city will have no roads or vehicles
Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is building a 170-km-long “city” called The Line, to house a million residents in “carbon-positive urban developments powered by 100 per cent clean energy.” It will have no roads or cars. “Schools, medical clinics, leisure facilities, green spaces will be within a five-minute walk,” his statement said, and ultra-high-speed transit will take 20 minutes from one end to the other. The AI-intensive $200-billion project is one aspect of NEOM, a Saudi development of towns and cities, ports and enterprise zones, research centres, sports and entertainment venues and tourist destinations.
