LION PERFORMER SIEGFRIED DIES AT 81
Siegfried Fischbacher, of the entertainment act Siegfried & Roy, died Wednesday at age 81 from pancreatic cancer. Fischbacher spent his last moments at his home in Las Vegas, his sister, a nun named Sister Dolore, confirmed to German publication Bild. “He fell asleep gently and peacefully,” she said. Fischbacher, shown, was recovering after doctors had removed a malignant tumour in a 12-hour operation. But they later found it had already spread through his body. After the operation and diagnosis, Fischbacher left the hospital and returned home, where two nurses cared for him until he died. His performance partner, Roy Horn (born Uwe Ludwig Horn), died from complications from a COVID-19 battle last year. Horn was partly paralyzed after one of the pair's white Bengal tigers, Montecore, attacked him during a Siegfried & Roy performance at The Mirage hotel-casino in Las Vegas in 2003. The two met while working on a cruise ship in 1957.
