VACCINE SHIPMENT CUT 37% BUT YUKON CLINICS CONTINUE

-

Yukon Premier Sandy Silver says the territory's next two shipments of COVID-19 vaccine will be reduced by 37 per cent, but most plans for immunization clinics are unchanged. Provinces and territories across Canada are receiving fewer vaccine doses due to supply issues and a statement from Silver says 9,000 doses will reach Yukon this month, down from an expected 14,400. He says mobile clinics in rural communities this week will continue, as will the clinic in Whitehorse for those aged 60 and older. But the premier says a clinic planned for the general population in Whitehorse will be affected, although details are still being finalized. The statement says Yukon is committed to safe and effective vaccine delivery and everyone immunized by this Friday can count on receiving a second shot to ensure full protection. Those second doses are expected to be delivered in rural communities across Yukon this month and during the first two weeks of March. Silver says the immunization rollout was designed to be flexible based on vaccine availability.
