RAPTORS EXTEND CONTRACT OF GM WEBSTER

- Ryan Wolstat, Postmedia News

A big part of the long-term managerial puzzle for the Toronto Raptors was locked up on Thursday. The team announced the long-expected extension for GM Bobby Webster, one of the key builders of the 2018-19 NBA champions, had been completed. The team would say only that it was a multi-year extension of some sort. Webster, 36, was elevated to GM in June 2017, having joined the organization four years earlier as Masai Ujiri's first hire, out of the NBA's head office. However,

Ujiri's own future remains murky. Arguably the NBA's most coveted executive, Ujiri is on a contract that expires at the end of this season. Ujiri has said frequently he isn't sure what's next, but “I go into this thing with a very positive mind and attitude and we hope that it goes that way.” Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment co-owner Larry Tanenbaum has said consistently he expects to reach a new deal with Ujiri at some point.
