Unfair to Snowbirds

Re: Trudeau's quarantine hotels hurt those who need our help the most, Christine Van Geyn, Feb. 2 (online)

I have a number of Canadian Snowbird friends who are average, hard-working citizens and certainly not elites. Most have already been vaccinated in Florida and the rest tell me they will receive the vaccine over the next month. The Florida stats for the vaccination rollout to the over-65 cohort support their contention.

Requiring these COVID-19 vaccinated seniors with their negative PCR tests to go to a government quarantine hotel facility upon their return to Canada, and at the excessive cost of $2,000 for this “internment,” is definitely not Canadian.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau should not punish them for travelling to acquire a vaccine that he couldn't deliver on a timely basis. When they arrive back here with their proof of vaccination along with their negative PCR test, let them go home.
