JUDD RECOVERING AFTER SURGERY ON SHATTERED LEG

Ashley Judd is recovering from an eight-hour surgery after a fall in Africa. She shattered her leg in four places when she tripped over a fallen tree while walking through a rainforest in the Congo. Medics transported Judd, 52, to a hospital in South Africa, and she later had an operation in the U.S. “I was qualified to have the 8-hour surgery to repair the bones, decompress the hemorrhaging nerve and pick the shards of bones out of the nerve,” she said on Instagram. “I am now recovering from surgery.” She added that her father was able to fly to South Africa to help her. “I am up and around already. Thank you for your care and kind words,” she said. “Let us always remember those without insurance. Let us remember those who do not have choices. Let us remember those who are lonely and afraid.”
