Archie enjoying waffles thanks to the Queen

Young royal's Christmas gift a brekkie boost

-

Prince Harry and Meghan's son is a boy of eclectic tastes, his father revealed in an interview with talk show host James Corden that was released Thursday night.

The TV personality and royal toured Los Angeles in an empty open-air bus, getting up to various hijinks but pausing to give insight on Archie's Christmas gift from the Queen.

“My grandmother asked us what Archie wanted for Christmas and Meg said a waffle maker. (So the Queen) sent us a waffle maker for Archie.”

Now Meghan whips up an organic mix, revs up the waffle maker, feeds baby Archie “and he loves it.”

“Archie wakes up in the morning and goes, `waffle?'” immediately wanting mom's homemade brekkie. Harry also gets in on the waffle-making fun. He likes to smear some yogurt and jam on his waffles with a few berries.

The young royal, who turns two in May, is stringing words together to form sentences. His first word was “crocodile,” Harry said.

“Three syllables,” the prince boasted.

Harry also gave a little snippet of what dating is like as a royal.

“Dating with me, or any member of the Royal Family, is kind of flipped upside down. All the dates become dinners or watching the TV or chatting at home. Eventually, once you become a couple, then you venture out to dinners, to the cinema and everything else. So, everything was done back-to-front with us. So, actually, we got to spend an enormous amount of time (as) just the two of us,” said Harry. “There were no distractions. And that was great.”

Corden asked about the couple's decision to step down from the Royal Family and move to the United States.

Harry swiftly corrected him. “It was never walking away. It was stepping back rather than stepping down. It was a really difficult environment, as I think a lot of people saw. We all know what the British press could be like and it was destroying my mental health . ... This is toxic. So I did what any husband and what any father would do. It was like, `I need to get my family out of here.' But we never walked away.”
