The season is filled with oversized fanciful prints. Learn how to play nice with wallpaper florals.
Whether they are artsy, wild, retro or abstract, this season has a print for everyone. However, the most notable pattern was bold and graphic floral print. Wallpaper inspired floral print can be seen in mix and match outfits, in head-to-toe looks and even in small discreet touches.
The runways this season were upbeat with a saturated color palette. Fashion designers chose to step away from the typically S/S 2017 tiny floral patterns and chose to use bold flowers that had more bite.
Labels like Chloe, Dries van Noten, Roberto Cavalli, Prada, Christopher Kane and Michael Kors looked to the past for inspiration. The 60’s, 70’s and 80’s were all on trend when it came to shapes, cuts and materials. However, the 70’s were definitely the decade of the moment for prints, specifically the wallpaper floral print. These throwback patterns often took the form of large flowers, with a multitude of big and brightly colored blooms splashed all over silhouettes. Shown in head-to-toe looks, they had a full-on 70’s effect.
