Pee­wee Trap­pers ousted in tour­ney semis

the north Bay hop­per Buick/ GMC Ma­jor Pee­wee aaa trap­pers were elim­i­nated in the semi­fi­nal 5-0 at the hands of the north Cen­tral Preda­tors at the oshawa gen­er­als 14th an­nual aaa tour­na­ment over the week­end.

the trap­pers opened the tour­na­ment with a 3-1 win over the host gen­er­als. nate grav­elle, Mathieu tur­geon and an­thony Boyes scored in the win while Jesse Le­feb­vre and Zach Ma­jor con­trib­uted with a pair of as­sists. Justin robin­son was strong in goal for the open­ing win.

game 2 saw the trap­pers drop a 6-2 de­ci­sion to the Burling­ton ea­gles.

nate grav­elle and Zach Ma­jor scored in the set­back.

the trap­pers then fin­ished in a 2-2 tie against the Bar­rie Colts to move to 1-1-1. Jesse Le­feb­vre and Mathieu tur­geon scored.

the trap­pers needed a win over the Bramp­ton 45’s to move on to the play­off round and on Satur­day night they came up with a tight 3-1 win. ay­den thoma­son, Jesse Le­feb­vre and nate grav­elle had the goals.

Michael Purkhardt had his best per­for­mance of the week­end in that win.

on Sun­day morn­ing in the semi­fi­nal, the trap­pers stayed close for two pe­ri­ods but the Preds pulled away with three late goals in the 5-0 de­ci­sion.

the Ma­jor Pee­wee aaa trap­pers are back in league ac­tion this week­end for a three-game set against the Sud­bury Wolves.

Mi­nor Pee­wee AAA

the greco’s Lakeshore Mi­nor Pee­wee aaa trap­pers 2019 sea­son be­gan the same way it ended in 2018, with a se­ries ver­sus the Sud­bury Wolves.

this time the Wolves had home ice ad­van­tage, but the trap­pers came out on top in all three games, even after a long two-week hol­i­day with only one prac­tice.

the trap­pers took game 1 with a con­vinc­ing 5-0 win, led by gray­den robert­son-palmer who had four goals, in­clud­ing a nat­u­ral hat trick, and Briir Long net­ted the other goal for the win. as­sists in the game went to Long, with three, then an­dre Mon­doux and rowyn St-louis with sin­gles. the game also saw goalie owan her­oux come away with his first shutout of the sea­son.

Later on that evening, it was a much closer bat­tle with both teams play­ing short­handed through­out much of the game due to penal­ties. Jack­son Cur­ran was in net for the 3-0 win, which in­cluded a penalty shot at the end of the sec­ond pe­riod. noah dugas, Si­mon toupin and Ben gra­ham scored goals, while as­sists went to Jack­son Culin, Ja­cob Ju­tras and hud­son Prisco-du­quette.

on Sun­day morn­ing, the trap­pers were back at the Coun­try­side arena for the third game where they swept the Wolves 4-2. the trap­pers were up 3-0 when the Wolves clawed back with two goals. the next shift went on and con­tin­ued to pres­sure their op­po­nents cre­at­ing a scor­ing chance by robert­son-palmer to make his fi­nal tally of two goals for the game. other goals went to rowyn St. Louis and Ben gra­ham. as­sists sent to Long, Mon­dous, Ju­tras and Culin.

gre­cos Lakeshore Mi­nor Pee­wee aaa trap­pers now sit in sec­ond place in league play be­hind the Soo with a record of 11-5-6.

this week­end the trap­pers have a big se­ries at Pete Palan­gio, where they will play the tim­mins north­stars, who are chas­ing the trap­pers for sec­ond place. game times are 11 am and 5 pm on Satur­day and Sun­day at 10 am.
