Hong Kong dessert craze hits midtown

North York Post - - Food -

New Asian-inspired dessert spots are popping up all over the place, from North York (Chi Patisserie and Bake Code, to name a few) all the way to One Pear Cafe and Daan Go south of Bloor. This November, Yonge and Eglinton welcomes Toronto’s second location of Hong Kong–based purveyor of delectable treats HK Sweets at 2375 Yonge St. The shop, which chose midtown in order to serve customers who may not have tried similar cuisine before, creates authentic Hong Kong–style desserts and savoury fusion food. Who could say no to a trio of sweet dessert pancakes — mango, kiwi and strawberry — paired with matcha soft serve? Or perhaps a colourful shaved ice dessert with heaps of lychee jelly, mini mochis, fresh fruit and more.
