St. An­thony hos­pi­tal cuts beds

Labrador-Gren­fell Health’s de­ci­sion to cut mul­ti­ple beds from its med­i­cal/ sur­gi­cal unit at Charles S. Cur­tis Memo­rial Hos­pi­tal in St. An­thony has come un­der crit­i­cism. The health au­thor­ity told The North­ern Pen in Fe­bru­ary the de­ci­sion to elim­i­nate two beds from each for­merly four-bed room, was to im­prove client pri­vacy and con­fi­den­tial­ity. St. An­thony Mayor Des­mond McDon­ald was con­cerned there may be job loss by at­tri­tion while the ques­tion has since been raised whether the hos­pi­tal has enough beds.
