If we were vot­ing for Toronto’s best fe­male fron­ter of a rock band, Repub­lic of Safety’s Maggie MacDon­ald would win hands down, but in terms of sheer vo­cal abil­ity, Amy Mil­lan’s re­mark­able voice steals the award – a note-per­fect mez­zoso­prano that flut­ters be­tween girl­ishly flir­ta­tious and huskily lone­some
