Whether you’re an aspiring playwright trying to finish that script, a mid-career artist stumped by things like budgets and taxes, or simply a curious theatre lover, there’s something for everyone at this year’s eclectic daily (and did we mention free?) Tent Talks series. Intimate and friendly, the series features a great lineup of guests and topics. Canadian Stage’s innovative artistic director, Matthew Jocelyn, is on hand July 4; a panel hilariously called Please Don’t Start A Theatre Company, featuring Aislinn Rose, Julie Tepperman (pictured), Beatriz Pizano and others, might convince you to do the opposite (July 5); two of the best directors, period, Kelly Thornton and Kelly Straughan, talk about women in the industry (July 7); and theatremakers and former arts jurors Margo Charlton, Lynda Hill, Jason Maghanoy and John Van Burek discuss the granting process (July 13).
Oh, and NOW’s Glenn Sumi sits down to interview director Amos Crawley and writer Peter Genoway, the first-time playwright who won this year’s Fringe New Play Contest (see story, page 8), on July 10.
