Ris­ing wa­ter lev­els are a global is­sue that touched Toronto in dra­matic fash­ion last year af­ter heavy rains caused months of flood­ing on the Toronto Is­lands and along the shore­line. This week­end, a vir­tual flood will sub­merge the Bent­way thanks to Dutch de­signer Daan Roosegaarde. Us­ing high-den­sity LED lights, soft­ware, lenses and steam, he will sim­u­late un­du­lat­ing waves to draw at­ten­tion to climate change. The in­stal­la­tion has toured 10 cities, in­clud­ing Am­s­ter­dam (pic­tured) and Paris, but the Toronto edi­tion will fea­ture com­ple­men­tary lo­cal pro­gram­ming, in­clud­ing wa­ter am­bas­sadors who will an­swer ques­tions about the city’s wa­ter­ways and en­vi­ron­men­tal threats fac­ing Lake On­tario. 7 to 11 pm.
