Ottawa police officer pleads guilty to charges
An Ottawa police officer pleaded guilty to two counts of neglect of duty yesterday. In one case, Const. Jacky Lord failed to show up at court at 9: 30 a. m. Oct. 20, 2005, after being subpoenaed to testify. He called at noon to say he was sick. Charges in the case, which involved failure to provide a breath sample, were withdrawn as a result. In another incident on Oct. 28, Const. Lord signed in to a court appearance using an earlier time than he had actually arrived. He will be sentenced today. Two other charges were withdrawn.
