Stars no match for NFL
The National Hockey League would sooner expand to Swift Current than go head- to- head against the NFL on Sundays. Apparently that doesn’t apply to Mondays. The NHL, which stripped its Sunday schedule down to one game for each of the first three Sundays in October, found itself squared off against a marquee NFL matchup in Dallas on Monday night and, predictably, came out second best. Attendance at the Stars- Canucks game was announced at 16,639 but it appeared the cavernous American Airlines Arena was maybe, and that’s a big maybe, half full. The Stars’ home rink seats 18,532. Down the road at Texas Stadium, a crowd in excess of 65,000 watched the Dallas Cowboys fall to the New York Giants.
