AUTO RACING TENNIS
A. J. Allmendinger became the latest open- wheel defector yesterday when the Champ Car driver signed a deal to drive for Team Red Bull in NASCAR. He signed a multi- year deal to drive the No. 84 Camry, and completes a lineup that already includes 23- year- old Brian Vickers, who announced in June he was joining the team. Kim Clijsters has bruised her tailbone after stumbling over her dog while playing soccer. Despite the injury, Clijsters, who has been sidelined with a wrist injury for more than two months, said she’s still on course to return to the WTA Tour next week. Clijsters was forced to stop training for two days because of the accident.
