Madonna has her say on Oprah

Star to explain adoption

Madonna has taken quite a lashing in the press over conflicting reports about her recent adoption of African orphan David Banda. But the superstar will clear the air today when she speaks with Oprah ( 4 p. m., CTV and ABC).

Since the adoption earlier this month, Madonna has weathered claims that the adoption was rushed, that it ignored Malawi’s foreign adoption laws and that the boy’s father Yohane, who is illiterate, did not understand the full terms of the adoption.

The Confessions on a Dance Floor star will rebuff these claims when she talks to Oprah via satellite from her base in London, said a spokeswoman for Winfrey’s production company. Oprah will be the first host to interview Madonna about the controversial adoption.
