Tornadoes drop Rapidz

The Worcester Tornadoes took an early lead and held on the beat the visiting Ottawa Rapidz, 4-2, in Can-Am Baseball League action last night.

Worcester improved its season record to 13-7, and Ottawa fell to 4-17.

The Tornadoes scored one run in the third inning and three in the third against Rapidz starting pitcher Noel Baca III, whose record fell to 1-3.

He allowed four runs — all earned — on six hits in 5 2⁄ innings.

3 Worcester starter Junior Guerrero (2-1) held Ottawa scoreless during his six innings, allowing three hits with two strikeouts.

John Birtwell pitched the ninth to earn the save.

Meanwhile, the Rapidz completed a trade with the El Paso (Texas) Diablos yesterday, getting infielder David Keesee for future considerat­ions.

Keesee was activated in time for last night’s game in Worcester. Thirdstrin­g catcher Maxime Bouchard was released to make room on the roster.
