Canada sends six to Beijing



Canada will be sending a trio of Olympic rookies to represent the country in women’s triathlon at the Beijing Summer Games. Triathlon Canada announced yesterday that Vancouver’s Lauren Groves, Montreal’s Kathy Tremblay and Carolyn Murray of St. Albert, Alta., will comprise the Canadian team, which is one of only eight countries sending three women to compete in the triathlon event. The trio join the men’s team of Victoria’s Simon Whitfield, Hamilton’s Colin Jenkins and Edmonton’s Paul Tichelaar, representi­ng the first time Canada qualified a six-member team to the Olympics.
