Planning a driving holiday this summer? Worried about the rising cost of gasoline? Do some research before you go and you may be able to save some money. That’s because, in an effort to attract visitors, some regions are offering gas-based discounts to tourists. Branson, Missouri, for example, is offering a deal in which, for every $50 in gas spent in Branson (you have to present receipts at a local tourist office), visitors receive a $50 Gas Busters discount card that can be used to obtain discounts at area businesses. Branson-area attractions include Silver Dollar City, a theme park featuring life in the 1880s; Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede Dinner & Show, a production set in a 35,000-square-foot arena featuring stampeding longhorn steers, racing pigs and ostriches; and a shipshaped building billed as the world’s largest Titanic museum.
