Austen’s fans help
Re: Austen’s England, March 20 .
This Citizen article in the travel section mentioned that the bells of St. Nicholas church in Steventon, England, were restored in 1995 with help from the Jane Austen Society of North America (JASNA). Our Ottawa chapter of JASNA contributed $2,100 to this project. For further information, go to www.jasna.org and follow the links.
Readers of Austen will notice that, in the novels, many critical and maturing events take place when the characters are away from home. Let’s hope our visits to Austen’s England are more peaceful.
