Colombia leads the men’s team standings at 3-under-par 141. In the overall standings of the biennial team competitio­n, which continues through Sunday, Canada is fifth at 300. Argentina is the leader at 293.

❚ Officials at Dalhousie University in Halifax have suspended the women’s hockey team for the

rest of the season after an investigat­ion revealed that a recent hazing ritual involved excessive drinking, intimidati­on and humiliatio­n. University spokesman Charles Crosby issued a brief statement Thursday saying many of the team’s players were “put in harm’s way” both physically and psychologi­cally during a private house party in September. Though no one was physically hurt, Crosby says the incident represents a serious breach of the university’s expectatio­ns. ❚ Orlondo Steinauer is going back to Hamilton. The Tiger-Cats hired Steinauer as their new defensive coordinato­r Thursday. Steinauer spent four seasons with the CFL club as a defensive back (19972000), helping the Ticats earn their last Grey Cup title in ’99. Steinauer spent the last three seasons as a defensive backs coach with the Grey Cupchampio­n Toronto Argonauts.

Dickenson joined the Riders in 2011 after spending the previous season with the NFL’s Oakland Raiders as a special-teams assistant. ❚ Nick Swisher passed his physical with the Cleveland Indians on Thursday and signed the four-year, $56-million U.S. free-agent contract he agreed to last month. Swisher batted .272 with 24 homers and 93 RBIs last season — his fourth with the New York Yankees. ❚ Andy Reid was in deep negotiatio­ns with the Kansas City Chiefs to become their next coach, a person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press on Thursday. The Philadelph­ia Eagles fired Reid on Monday, the same day the Chiefs parted ways with coach Romeo Crennel. ❚ New Jersey Devils owner Jeff Vanderbeek bought out his partners and refinanced the National Hockey League team’s debt with CIT Group Inc. as lead arranger, the team said in a statement. The Devils have gone to the Stanley Cup final five times in the past 17 years, including this past season.

❚ Right-handed reliever Jason Frasor has signed a one-year deal with the

Texas Rangers. The 35-yearold has spent most of his career with Toronto since making his major-league debut in 2004. He was traded to the Chicago White Sox midway through the 2011 season, but was dealt back to the Blue Jays at end of that year. Frasor is Toronto’s franchise leader with 505 appearance­s. He was 1-1 with a 4.12 ERA in 50 games last season, when he was on the disabled list more than six weeks because of right forearm tightness.
