Mulling Rideau Rebels

I’m very happy to see the return of football in the National Capital Region. I lived in Ottawa for many years and remember going to games with my dad and friends. I was there the last time Ottawa hosted the Grey Cup and have been to 14 cup finals over the years.

I think the name of the new CFL team should be the Rideau Rebels. The Rideau Canal flows beside the stadium and by calling them the Rideau Rebels you can get the traditional “R” (or slightly overlapping “RR”) on the helmet and still use the black and red colours. The name gives Ottawa a geographical connection, a traditional connection with the old “R” and bit of an edge by calling them the Rebels.
