Authorities find 3.1 kg of heroin in suitcase

A French citizen arriving at Montreal’s Trudeau Airport on Jan. 23 was charged after officials found 3.1 kg of heroin in his suitcase. The 53-year-old man arrived at the airport from Qatar last Wednesday. An X-ray of his suitcase showed there was a false side panel with a storage space. A hole was drilled into the suitcase and white powder came out. Tests of the substance confirmed it was heroin. The traveller was arrested and formally charged with drug smuggling.
