Studios & maple syrup:

Just in time to catch the sap running in Lanark County, the Maple Run Studio Tour takes place Saturday and Sunday. Check out the works of almost two dozen artists at nine studios in and around Pakenham. Studios are open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the selfguided tour. Download a map at maplerunto­ur.ca or grab a brochure at stops along the way, including Fulton’s Sugar Bush, 291 6th Concession Rd., and the Pakenham General Store, 2524 County Road 29. Home show: Don’t miss the annual Home & Garden Show, which continues until Sunday at the Ernst & Young Centre, 4899 Uplands Dr. With close to 400 exhibitors offering a plethora of ideas, services and products, there’s something for every budget and project. Hours are Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors (60+) and youths (13-17) and free for children 12 and under.

Rain barrels: Help the environmen­t and a school project by ordering a rain barrel from St. John Catholic Elementary School in Perth. The recycled barrels are $55 and must be pre-ordered at
