Megan Mellor, Lead Critic, Notre Dame Catholic High School Boutros’ Gilbert grew beautifully from a boy in puppy love to a young man with goals and ideals. His large emotional range made his character relatable and inspiring. In Boutros’ musical numbers, his bright, clear voice shone, most particularly in Wondrin’. Miriam Saslove, Critic, Woodroffe High School Anne’s schoolmates brought youthful vivacity to their group scenes and songs. Tessa Kuka (as Josie Pye) nailed the “mean girl” attitude while matching it with exceptional vocals.
Emily Kennedy, Lead Critic, St. Patrick’s High School The lighting was extremely effective in bringing emotion to the scene, specifically when lighting Matthew’s empty chair after his heart attack, as well as depicting the time of day.
Paulo Guedes, Critic, Philemon Wright High School Andrew Matthews demonstrated his character’s development from being a shy individual to an aging man with an increased level of confidence. It brought the audience to tears when Mr. Cuthbert peacefully gave himself to death. About the reviews: The D’Arcy McGee High School production was reviewed by 25 critics from 12 schools.
