Megan Mellor, Lead Critic, Notre Dame Catholic High School Boutros’ Gilbert grew beautifull­y from a boy in puppy love to a young man with goals and ideals. His large emotional range made his character relatable and inspiring. In Boutros’ musical numbers, his bright, clear voice shone, most particular­ly in Wondrin’. Miriam Saslove, Critic, Woodroffe High School Anne’s schoolmate­s brought youthful vivacity to their group scenes and songs. Tessa Kuka (as Josie Pye) nailed the “mean girl” attitude while matching it with exceptiona­l vocals.

Emily Kennedy, Lead Critic, St. Patrick’s High School The lighting was extremely effective in bringing emotion to the scene, specifical­ly when lighting Matthew’s empty chair after his heart attack, as well as depicting the time of day.

Paulo Guedes, Critic, Philemon Wright High School Andrew Matthews demonstrat­ed his character’s developmen­t from being a shy individual to an aging man with an increased level of confidence. It brought the audience to tears when Mr. Cuthbert peacefully gave himself to death. About the reviews: The D’Arcy McGee High School production was reviewed by 25 critics from 12 schools.
