Be entertained, help the hungry
Trio Sol, an exciting new Torontobased ensemble, presents a benefit concert of Latin-American music at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, at St Joseph’s Parish, 174 Wilbrod St, Ottawa. Trio Sol invites you to join them on a sunny cruise through the music of Cuba, Venezuela, Argentina and Brazil.
The multinational group consists of Mexican flutist Alheli Pimienta, Canadian oboist Heather Macdonald and Brazilian guitarist André Valério. Pimienta and Macdonald met at the Glenn Gould School in Toronto and have collaborated many times on music ranging from baroque to tango. Having an extensive background in Latin jazz music, Valério’s captivating guitar playing completes the trio’s unique sound.
Admission is by donation (suggested $10). Proceeds help benefit the St. Joseph’s Supper Table, a charitable organization that feeds the hungry in the Sandy Hill area.
