Tips to protect against recalled products

- Patrick Langston

Keep tabs on recalls at the federal government’s Healthy Canadians website: healthycanadians.gc.ca/ index-eng.php.

Stop using a recalled product or one with a safety alert immediately, and ensure no one else in the family uses it.

Fill out the warranty card that comes with electrical and other products or do it online; manufacturers can contact you in the event of a recall.

If you move, contact vehicle and other manufacturers so they can find you if there’s a recall.

Before buying used, check recall notices on the item and make sure it’s been repaired.
