Become part of a great team: The Well is a spiritual and justice-based gathering place for women and women with children and they are looking for a volunteer computer room assistant. You will help women become familiar with the Internet, email and various software applications for about two hours per week. Police check is required. Outgoing volunteers needed: The YMCA-YWCA of the National Capital Region is looking for a strong candidate to help with a campaign to bring the Y to the Carlingwood Mall. This person will help at the information booth, answer questions and register memberships. This position also involves working with our computer system to ensure new members’ information has been entered correctly. Do you have a background in sales and want to build on this experience? Are you an outgoing, positive individual who isn’t afraid to get the attention of mall walkers? Training will be provided. Booth is open during mall hours (Friday and Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.). Commitment of 25 hours a week is needed. Strong volunteers needed: Ottawa Neighbourhood Services is looking for volunteers for a fundraising auction on Aug. 24. We received an important donation of great furniture and are looking to sell it in an auction to raise funds to buy a new truck. We are looking for two to three strong people (to move furniture) to set up and help out during and after the event and load furniture onto a truck. HWF is a nonprofit charity serving the Ottawa area whose primary purpose is to furnish the homes of individuals and families in need. Duties include calling and organizing board meetings, in collaboration with the HWF president, preparing and distributing agendas for monthly board meetings, facilitating board meetings, taking/distributing meeting minutes, creating, updating, and distributing documents as necessary, serving as the central contact for board business and helping to organize HWF’s annual general meeting. This position requires approximately 5-10 hours of work per month. Are you 18 or older, available in the evenings, fluent in English, have excellent communication skills, excellent organizational, administrative and multi-tasking skills? Do you have experience taking, editing and distributing meeting minutes, leading meetings and helping to plan events? VOscar time again: Volunteer Ottawa will host its third annual VOscar fundraising gala on Sept. 26 at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum. A strong team of “supporting cast” (volunteers) is needed to make this event a success, including videographer, paparazzi, entertainers, event helpers, people to help manage the talent, social media promoter during the event, as well as VOscar helper, movie star look-alikes, someone to hand out parking vouchers, door greeters, registrars, ushers, setup and takedown crews.
