Top-notch service, safety and fun at Calypso

-

Calypso Theme Waterpark has had so much bad press again this summer, I wanted to offer some praise.

On June 21, my son attended a field trip at the park with his school. Mid-morning he began to suffer from the effects of a migraine. His teachers jumped into action and he was taken to the first-aid station. Staff looked after him and accommodated his needs until I was able to arrive to bring him home. He kept telling me how nice everyone was to him.

Our family visited Calypso on July 19 for a corporate event. Again, around lunchtime, my son came down with a migraine. This time I was able to see first hand how the firstaid folks jumped to action. The staff were fantastic. The weather was just turning ugly with the huge thunderstorm rolling in that later left many without power. Even through their focus on the weather and the safety of the visitors of the park, they still showed concern for Noah; they let him stay in their resting room on the bed and made sure he was comfortable. When it became clear Noah was OK to head home, the fellow in charge insisted my husband bring our vehicle around back to pick Noah up. By this time the park was organizing a shutdown and it was pretty wild out there.

I think the staff deserve to be commended. They handled themselves very well and everyone’s safety is a No. 1 concern, that was very obvious to me as I sat and listened to the walkie-talkies as staff checked in with each other. Sure, there have been negative stories, and I don’t know the details of other people’s experiences, but my family and I can’t wait to head out to the waterpark again.

Ottawa is lucky to have such a beautiful park in our backyard. The management and owners have provided us and all tourists a No. 1 facility similar to those that I have seen in the United States. I am proud that I can bring family and friends who visit to such a wonderful place.
