The East Nepean Eagles had only three hits Saturday in their game against Brno, Czech Republic, but they made the most of them in a 4-3 win that evened their record 1-1 at the Little League World Series at Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

With the win, the Eagles move on to the second round and will play again Monday against Latin America, which lost 13-0 to Mexico on Sunday.

A three-run third inning did the damage for the Eagles as they opened up a 4-1 lead over the Czechs, who are participating in their first ever Little League World Series after qualifying as the Europe & Africa representatives.

Ken Nguyen threw five innings to collect the win for the Eagles and struck out eight batters along the way.

Angus Adams got the offence going for the Eagles in the bottom of the first inning when he homered with a line drive over the centre-field wall off Viktor Vecerka.

Brno tied the game in the top of the third when Daniel Stoudek homered before the Eagles put up three runs in the bottom of the inning.

In the bottom of the third, a bases-loaded error allowed Caden Griffen to score from third, giving the Eagles the lead once again.

David Legault then scored on a wild pitch. Adams went to third on the wild pitch and later stole home to put the Eagles up 4-1.

Brno responded with single runs in the fourth and sixth innings via a passed ball and single respectively, but Legault prevented any further damage in the sixth inning, allowing just one hit to close out the game for Nguyen and collect the save.

While the Eagles advance to the second round, Brno has fallen to 0-2 and have been relegated to the consolation side.

If the Eagles win again Monday, they advance to the quarter-finals on Tuesday.
