A senior citizen invited a seemingly troubled 15-year-old boy to take refuge at his Ottawa home if he agreed to “earn his keep” with sexual favours, court heard Tuesday.

Marcel Vincent thought the boy was being abused in a foster home in Toronto — not living with his parents in Ottawa — when he issued the online invitation.

“Maybe when you turn 16 you can come live here with me,” Vincent wrote during a Skype chat. “You seem like a really nice boy.” The condition was clear. “But there’s only one thing you’ll have to do: you’ll have to look after my sexual needs, as well,” Vincent wrote.

The 68-year-old man pleaded guilty Tuesday to luring the boy online, asking him to perform sex acts and sexually assaulting him.

The boy stayed with Vincent for several days in March 2012.

He lied about having a difficult living situation in Toronto, court heard.

The boy told police that he initially rejected Vincent’s sexual advances but eventually relented.

He left while Vincent was out for a walk and returned home.

“Hey, why did you leave without telling me?” Vincent texted him.

The boy’s concerned parents searched his iPod for clues then went to police.

He will undergo a sexual behaviour assessment before his sentencing on Dec. 11.
