Spectra Sonic unveils fall lineup

Ottawa promoter Spectra Sonic’s fall concert lineup features some of the most interestin­g bands on the Canadian scene and beyond.

The promoter released a list of new concert dates Monday. Among the highlights: ❚ Toronto indie/dance sensations DIANA, who played this year’s Arboretum Festival, will headline Oct. 12 at Mavericks alongside local favourites Silkken Laumann and Black Usher. ❚ Irish duo the Heathers return to Zaphod Beeblebrox, Oct. 25. ❚ The all-female Weezer cover band, Sheezer (which features members of Our Lady Peace, By Divine Right, Hidden Cameras, The Bicycles and more) will drop in to Ritual with Boyhood and Elgin Skye, Nov. 1. ❚ Juno Award-winning rapper Shad will perform an intimate club gig at Ritual with We Are The City, Nov. 8. ❚ Vancouver quartet Said The Whale are also coming to Ritual, Nov. 13. ❚ Hamilton’s Monster Truck rolls into Ritual on the strength of a new album called Furiousity, Dec. 14. Tickets go on sale Tuesday through Spectra Sonic starting at 10 a.m. Use the code LION. ❚ And on Friday, Dec. 13, lucky soul fans can see Charles Bradley and his Extraordin­aires at Ritual.

These concerts come on the heels of other recent announceme­nts including an appearance by rising indie band Passion Pit at Algonquin College Friday, Sept. 13.

Coming on Monday, Sept. 16, legendary punk band Pere Ubu is headed to Mavericks promoting a new album called The Lady From Shanghai. This is the first time the band has been in Ottawa for decades.
