New memory foam bras mould to your curves for a personalized fit
Putting a new memory foam bra from la Vie en Rose to the comfort test,
Every woman knows, comfort is key when it comes to a bra. Worn for at least 12 hours a day, the all-important undergarment needs to fit properly and support “the girls” without digging into your back, shoulders or sides.
A couple of months ago, I received an email from the lingerie boutique la Vie en Rose, asking if I would like to test out one of its new memory foam bras.
I’ve received many free samples over the years, but I have to say, the sexy lace bra — blue, no less — that arrived on my desk is a first.
Now, I don’t mean to look a gift horse in the mouth, as my mother would say, but I’m not a big fan of lace because it’s often scratchy and irritating to my skin.
But the Discreet bra is surprisingly comfortable. It’s one of two new bras — the other is called Fantastic — featuring cups lined with seamless memory foam that moulds to your breasts.
According to the marketing pamphlet, the foam is “thermosensitive, allowing it to react to body heat, thus moulding to each woman’s natural curves while offering comfortable support.”
Indeed, it did. But despite criticism that memory foam can make you sweat since it holds heat, I found it incredibly comfortable.
The pamphlet goes on to say that the foam is “viscoelastic, meaning that it returns to its initial shape and thickness after having been handled, hence its name “memory foam.”
Again, true and especially handy, if you have to scrunch it in a ball to stuff into your suitcase or overstuffed underwear drawer.
As for the blue lace covering, I have no complaints. The lace is soft and pretty, adding sex appeal to the cushiony bra, even though it didn’t make me look anything like the blond babe sporting the Discreet on the company website.
The Discreet is available in 11 colours, including basic beige and blue and purple lace. The Fantastic, which can be worn as a strapless bra, comes in eight shades. Both retail for $44.95.
