Teacher loses certification over sexual relationship with student
A former teacher at Franco Cité Catholic Secondary School has lost her teaching certificate following allegations of sexual misconduct and other inappropriate behaviour with students. Andréane Hélène Cadieux was found guilty at a hearing Monday of the discipline committee of the Ontario College of Teachers of professional misconduct. It had been alleged that, among other things, she had a sexual relationship with a student during the 2009-2010 school year. Neither Cadieux nor a lawyer representing her was present at the hearing, according to a college spokeswoman. A notice of hearing stated that Cadieux had resigned from her teaching position in April 2010. Her certificate of qualification and registration were suspended in May 2011 for nonpayment of fees, according to the Ontario College of Teacher’s website. The college’s website states that Cadieux received her teacher training at the University of Ottawa, graduating in 2008. She taught at the same school in 2008-2009 and 2009-2010, according to the notice of hearing.
