Police search for two in Blackburn Hamlet attempted robbery

Police are on the hunt for two suspects after a 69-yearold woman was attacked in Blackburn Hamlet on Saturday. The woman got off an OC Transpo bus around 1 a.m. and began to walk along Innes Road. The woman felt someone trying to tug her bag from behind, but she held on tightly. One of the suspects punched the woman in the head and made a derogatory remark before he fled empty-handed. Police said the suspects were last seen running south on Beddoe Lane. The woman suffered minor injuries from the assault, police said. Police describe the first suspect as a white man, aged 18 to 22, 135 pounds with a thin build, shaved head, blond hair and a pale oval face. He was wearing a white bomber jacket and pale blue jeans. The second suspect is described as white, 18 to 22 and wearing dark blue jeans. Anyone with informatio­n can call the police robbery unit at 613236-1222, ext. 5116.
