Destiny USA helps transform shopping centre to a national destination

-

While the weather outside has turned frightful, indoors it’s still delightful. And if you’re looking to do some holiday shopping combined with a weekend getaway — all while avoiding the season’s cold weather — there is no better place to visit than Destiny USA, Syracuse’s super regional shopping and entertainment centre.

Opened last summer, the 2.4 million sq. ft. Destiny USA is made up the original 1.5 million sq. ft. Carousel Center and now includes a LEED® Gold certified 850,000 sq. ft. state-of-the art entertainment themed expansion. On the retail side, it’s all there: luxury outlets, company stores, off-price retail, traditional anchors and mall shops that provide something for everyone.

But it’s the first-class entertainment and dining that is the real differentiator. This is far from the local shopping mall you’ve been used to visiting. In addition to the family entertainment venues on the unique third floor of the complex, there’s even a nightlife scene with Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill or Revolutions Entertainment, which offers dining, dancing and bowling all in one location. This mix of tenants — and their dedicated location on the upper level of the mall — cannot be found anywhere else.

“This is a very exciting shopping and entertainment destination,” said Sara Wallace, Destiny USA team member. “We have everything under one roof, so shoppers don’t have to brave the elements in going from store to store. We have our factory outlet stores and higher brand name shops on the first and second levels, while the third level is devoted to entertainment with restaurants, cinemas and Wonderworks, an amusement park for the mind.” A stunning three-story atrium links the levels together and provides perfect weather year round, giving respite from the cold temperatures outside.

The third level entertainment venue is what separates Destiny USA from run of the mill shopping centres. Where else can you view a 3D IMAX movie, ride a mechanical bull, go bowling, take in a comedy show or navigate a high rope course, all in the same day and all under one roof?

Opened just a few weeks ago, Revolutions offers 24 boutique bowling lanes, 45 arcade games, two high-energy bars and the best place in the city to watch the game. Also newly opened, Dave and Buster’s is a restaurant/bar with a casino-like atmosphere featuring the latest interactive video games.

“There is truly something for everyone at Destiny USA,” said Sara Wallace. “For example, if a family of five visits the area for the weekend, mom can shop at over 200 stores, dad can practice his golf game on a high-definition golf simulator, while the kids can visit WonderWorks or race at Pole Position Raceway.”

Destiny USA offers a Shop & Stay tour package for those visitors wishing to stay in the area overnight. Working with dozens of area hotels to provide a great deal and a great experience, each Shop & Stay package comes with a $25 Destiny USA gift card, exclusive savings in Destiny USA’s Passport of Savings, a recycled shopping bag and a free carousel ride.

Destiny USA is located at the crossroads of Interstates 81 and 90 in Syracuse, an easy threehour drive south of Ottawa. Their extended holidays shopping hours start at midnight on Black Friday, Nov. 29. Some stores will be open even earlier, starting at 8 p.m. on American Thanksgiving, Nov. 28. Plenty of free coffee and other incentives will be available to help customers with their Black Friday shopping.
