TORONTO A few Canadians feature prominently in Bob Dylan’s new music video for Like a Rolling Stone, which premièred online this week.

Twins Drew and Jonathan Scott, stars of the W Network show Property Brothers, and CMT Canada host Paul McGuire appear on two of the 16 virtual TV channels users can flip through while Dylan’s song plays.

On each channel, characters onscreen lip-synch the lyrics to Like a Rolling Stone. The shows on the channels include versions of Pawn Stars, The Price is Right, Property Brothers, a parody of The Bachelor, faux news and a tennis match.

McGuire plays a TV anchor for a business news network, while the Scott brothers were told to mimic their show as much as possible for the music video.

“I asked what the idea was, and they said they wanted to try something new and interactive that’s never been done before … and show different personalities from pop cul- ture and every different walk of life,” said Jonathan Scott, who said he was thrilled to participate and has Like a Rolling Stone on his MP3 player.

“They said that basically they wanted it to be like our real show except we’re unaware that our mouths are moving to the lyrics of the song, so they didn’t want us playing it up or consciously singing the song.

“We realized a lot of the lyrics actually line up with what we talk about in the show, like ‘How does it feel to be without a home.’”

Drew Scott said the lip-synching wasn’t easy. “The hard thing is the way Bob Dylan sings, the cadence is different, and the rhythm is really different. So to line up our lips was such a tough thing to do.”
