Forget NIMBY nonsense

-

I have been reading the letters concerning an alternate route for interprovincial truck movement with interest. I took a look at the map of the preferred route (via Kettle Island) and to my mind it is the one that makes most sense.

I used to live on Brittany Drive, not far from and facing the Aviation Parkway, and rarely heard any noise from that area, except when it was used by emergency vehicles with their sirens on. There are no houses with direct access to the parkway and, provided trucks were to travel at the current speed limit of 60 km/h and not use air brakes or horns, I do not see a problem.

People living in the surrounding areas, as well as local, provincial and federal politicians who tend to kowtow to their constituents in order to get re-elected, should forget the NIMBY nonsense in order to alleviate traffic in the downtown core.
