Driver charged in crash that killed aspiring squash pro

A 20-year-old Toronto man has been charged in the crash that killed an aspiring squash pro and former Canadian university champion from Ottawa. Toronto police said Thursday they have charged Aleksey Aleksev, 20, with dangerous driving causing death and criminal negligence causing death in the crash that killed Adrian Dudzicki. Dudzicki, who would have turned 24 on Dec. 26, died Wednesday after he was struck while riding his bicycle in North York. Dudzicki was trying to cross Sheppard Avenue West when he was struck by a BMW. Dudzicki, who was on his way to the National Squash Academy when the accident occurred, was pronounced dead at the scene. Aleksev made his first court appearance Thursday.
