NAC extends run of Sound of Music

The NAC has extended the run of its family musical, The Sound of Music, by an extra four shows. New shows were added on Dec. 29, Jan. 3 and Jan. 4. The Sound of Music is part of the English Theatre season. The show features members of the NAC acting ensemble along with some guest artists and live music, with all the famous songs by Rodgers and Hammerstei­n, from Climb Ev’ry Mountain to My Favourite Things, Do-Re-Mi and So Long, Farewell. The play will now run a full month, from Dec. 3 to Jan. 4. The Dec. 3 show is pay-whatyou-can, and Dec. 4 and 5 are previews, with opening night Dec. 6. The Dec. 7 performanc­e includes a talk about the musical at 12:45 in the NAC Salon with NAC English Theatre artistic director Jillian Keiley and two special guests. And “talkbacks,” which feature artists answering audience questions after the show, will be held Dec. 11, 12, 18 and 19. Tickets start at $30 at the NAC box office or with surcharges through Ticketmast­er.
