WITH LINEN CLOSET OUT, NEW LARGER BATHROOM IS ‘FABULOUS’

-

Edna Ibbotson and Bill Purdy chose Westend Bath and Kitchen to renovate the ensuite bathroom in their townhouse overlooking the Kanata Golf and Country Club, and now she says “it’s perfect.”

“I’d gone to the home reno shows and spoken to them there,” said Edna. “I decided Iwas ready to go ahead, went into the Westend Bath and Kitchen showroom, met with designer Valerie Laba – and she took my ideas and put them into fruition.”

The townhouse was built in 1994. “We needed updating and redoing, and I wanted to have a larger shower, with some handheld bars because we are seniors,” said Edna, 66. “We wanted to upgrade, redo and make it nicer. Before, it was a square shower, and now there’s a new free standing tub and a separate glassed-in shower (with bench), new counters, anda new higher height toilet.”

“I’ve been designing now for 14 years and every room is unique,” stated Westend designer Valerie Laba. “The closet removal in this layout provided the optimal location for a custom angled shower. Our 3-D program brings it to life before a single tile is removed. From start to finish, I’m here to plan, answer questions and pull all aspects of the project together.”

The couple loves the choice of rainhead or slide-bar when showering. “I especially love that after (using it) I can dry myself and keep warm inside the shower because there’s so much room,” said Edna.

The shower ceiling was raised, concealing the exhaust fan. It was also the perfect opportunity to add heated floors, making the room more comfortable.

The old bathroom wall colour was sea mist blue, but Edna and Valerie chose white fixtures and cream tiles for the new creation. “My customers are looking to set a tone and I enjoy helping them accomplish that. It’s very satisfying to see it take shape,” said Valerie. “The antique white vanity, latte quartz and brushed nickel faucets finish the look.”

Edna was extremely pleased with the workmanship and remarked, “the tiler was first class, I would call him a master tiler.”

“The quality of our products and services is unsurpassed and is evident in the finished product,” commented Valerie. “We receive great feedback regarding our installers all the time, and of-

fer a two-year warranty on our labour.”

“Edna and Bill have a great attitude, making my job that much more enjoyable,” said Valerie. We discussed the best way to execute everything from start to finish. This project is truly a testament to great teamwork. They have a beautiful home and I’m so glad they nowhave their dream bathroom to enjoy within it!”

The couple in turn was delighted with the service from West end. “What was great was that Valerie would call or email back right away. My rapport with Valerie was excellent. She was prompt and helpful, very professional … everything went very smoothly. They followed up and were very polite. I was very happy with them. It just looks great; it’s fabulous.”
