WHO IS ROCCO GALATI?
Age: 55 Personal history: Moved to Canada when he was seven. He was the 12th of 13 children.
Job: Toronto lawyer specializing in Constitutional and immigration cases. After spending a bit of time on Bay Street, he set up his office in Little Italy because he “didn’t like being in a neighbourhood where you don’t see kids and grandmothers and normal life.”
Family: Twice married. Has a 23-year-old daughter from his first marriage and twin four-year-old boys from his second.
Education: A love for the works of French poet Arthur Rimbaud inspired Galati to move to Montreal to learn French. He ended up studying clinical linguistics at McGill University.
Politics: Made a failed run in the late 1990s for the Ontario Liberals. Alleged the nomination process was “rigged” and sued the party.
Hobbies: He is a fan of Bob Dylan because “he was a guy who stood up for what he believed in, even though everybody was ridiculing him. And he turned out to be right at the end.” Writing a book on the Constitution because “I don’t want my life’s work to go to waste” and because “there isn’t a text on the market that’s to my liking.”
